Accept the Challenge

Posted - Apr• 07•14

When you are faced with a challenge, how do you respond?  Do you get motivated, energized, and dig in, to complete the necessary tasks?  Or, do you get depressed, lose your energy, and feel defeated?

When life presents you with a challenge it might help to understand that all “challenges” in this lifetime are opportunities for growth.  Each “challenge” allows for you to see what you are “made of” and to “pass” the given lesson so that you may move on to new challenges.

Life without challenges is like a roller coaster ride without hills.  Eventually, it gets boring and you will be looking for other things anyway.  You might start taking more unnecessary risks, or look for ways to even sabotage your life in order to make it a little more exciting.

So, given that this lifetime will have its share of challenges, you need to decide if you are going to accept the challenge and work you way through it, or give up.  If you “give up” you are telling yourself that the challenge is too much, and you will be limited in growth.  Rather, we might suggest that you work towards getting through the challenge, one moment at a time.

Plant a beacon as the completion destination to whatever you are currently being challenged.  For this example, let’s suppose you or someone close to you has just been diagnosed with cancer.  The beacon might be, you are cancer free.  Other beacons along the way might be, completion of the necessary surgeries,  completion of radiation or chemotherapy treatments, etc.

Now, each day, it is up to you to live as though you are at the beacon of being “cancer free.”  Everyday, it is up to you to encourage and keep positive as best you can.  Yes, it’s okay to cry, and to be emotional.   However, it is also important to keep moving and to keep your spirits high to allow for you to walk the journey one step at a time.

It’s when you quit walking on the journey of your life is when things can get dangerous.  Life is okay, wherever you are!  It’s okay to feel sad, and angry over your journey.  However, how do you accept a challenge?   Pull yourself up, and figure it out.  Now, may be the time for action and to move past the weeping and the bitterness into the next chapter of your life!

Let yourself live the life that you have dreamed.  Its’ okay to be afraid of the challenge that lies before you, but you must keep on walking down the path of this journey.  For the path is beautiful if you open your eyes wide enough to see it!
