“Do you remember the day we met?”
“Yes, like it was yesterday.”
“Things seemed so much easier back then.”
“I think now they seem easier, but when we were in it, it seemed difficult. Although, we didn’t yet have a family and had a lot less things to worry about.”
“I wonder if we’ll look back on this day and think it was easy, too.”
“Probably.”

Do you ever look back on a period in your life and think about how easy life seemed to be? Maybe you feel that your life was never easy, but sometimes we have a tendency to look back on a period when we were younger and think about how much less responsibility we had. It seems that as we grow older, we accumulate more and more responsibility that can hang around our neck, causing strain on our life. Why do you suppose that is?
Well, for one, it is only natural that as we grow, and start families we have more people who may be dependent on us. When we were younger, the only person that may have been dependent on you was you! As you aged, you gain responsibilities.
You may have purchased a car, or a home, and have a job where people depend on you. You may have other things that require a good income to support your new “life style.” This is only natural, and usually occurs with most people. However, for some, they may not have gotten their “legs under them” and are still dependent on others for their livelihood.
Whatever your case may be, we wonder if it’s time to evaluate where you are at this moment in your life, and make a conscious decision on your intentions for moving forward. What are your intentions for the remainder of your life? Have you thought about that recently?
When we are young, people might ask what you want to “be” when you grow up? Often times young children respond with the typical answers of a fire man, or astronaut. However, when was the last time you thought about what you want to “be” from this moment onward?
If you are retired you may no longer have the “identity” that you once had when you were in your working years. You may need to formulate a new “identity” that is based on your beacons that you still have in your future. Do you want to play golf for the rest of your life? That may be your passion and your joy. Do you want to continue to help people, and volunteer at various organizations? Or, you may want to continue on your own path of growth and learning. The options are limitless.
As you go about your day today, no matter where you are in your life, think about what it is you want for the rest of this lifetime. Sit quietly and reflect on where you have been and where you would like to be. Often times, we set goals for education, career and retirement, but then we let go and forget that we still have much “work” to do after we accomplish those things. Now may be a time for you to catch the “second wind of your life” and go after some of those lifelong passions. Today is the day, to begin that new chapter in your life!

We never need to stop living. When we “give up” and live by “default” we have implicitly decided that our life is over. Don’t let your life be over until you decide it’s okay to take your last breath!
