Whenever things don’t go our way, the best thing to ask is, “what can I learn about myself from this?” When we look to situations as opportunities for our own growth, we are taking responsibility, and looking to avoid similar situations in the future.
Yes, we would all like life to be one big fun ride! However, if that were the case we would have little incentive for growth. When everything is going great, we really have fun and are happy, but it’s when times get challenging that we dig in and make changes.
Is it important to make changes? Well, that depends. Change is necessary for growth. If we keep doing the same old thing, we are not expanding our horizons any. Let’s suppose you enjoy doing the same job, living in the same home, eating the same meals, and having fun with the same people. Yes, there are times in life when that is just perfect and you want, and should enjoy those moments.
Now, what happens when one of the people you have fun with moves away, or takes on an illness, or passes back to the other side? Are you prepared to deal with it? It’s the little “growth opportunities” along the way that help us prepare for the big ones that inevitably will occur in everyone’s lives.
When things are going well, we recommend you enjoy them. However, when things are not going quite like you had planned, we recommend that you ENJOY THOSE TIMES AS WELL!
