Choose Stress or Calm

Posted - May• 18•15

When the stresses of life seem to overwhelm you.  Take a deep breath, let it out slowly and relax.  Open your eyes, and enjoy the ride!

The stresses of life can become overwhelming – only if you let it!  You have the power and the ability to stifle the so-called “stresses” that you feel may be bearing down on you.  However, the “reality” is, there are no “stresses.”  The concept of “stress” originates in your mind – by you!

Think about the last time you were “stressed out.”  Bring that event into your mind and play the mental “video tape.”  Now think about how that “stress” originated.  Often times, we say to someone else, “you’re stressing me out,”  thinking that the source of “stress” is external.  However, stress like all other emotions such as happiness are created internally.

When we start to praise or blame our environment for our current emotional state we give up responsibility for our personal well-being.  When we understand and appreciate the essence of who we are as the sole contributor to our well-being, we take responsibility.

Think about the power that you hold.  You and you alone can decide if this will be a “stressful” or a “peaceful” day.  You decide what you will program your self and your body to feel.  You decide how you will behave in the face of “adversity.”  You decide how you will react to events that transpire throughout this day.

Stress is an emotion that originates in your mind.  Set a beacon for the emotional state you would like to reside within your body, and work backwards towards thought that creates that state within you!
