“Just try it and if you don’t like it, you can say you prefer not to.”
“I don’t mind the taste so much, as I do the texture,” replied the young man.
“Okay, I tried sushi, now can I have a hamburger?
“Sure, let’s finish up here and then we’ll go find something you like.”
The mother and the teenage son finished the few pieces remaining and then scoured the food court for something more to son’s liking.

Sometimes in life we need to step out of our “comfort zone” and try something new. It’s so easy to stay set in the patterns that we have developed, so much so, that we never deviate from those patterns.
Maybe it’s about trying a different food or drink. It might be about taking up a new exercise, such as yoga or swimming. It might be spending some of your evening away from the television and playing a game with the family, or meditating to clear your mind.
You came to this lifetime for the adventure – not to be doing the “same-o” everyday. Let the creative, adventurous side of you come out. Be spontaneous, and “let go.”
Let go of the things that you are “hanging onto.” Let go of the strings that are holding you back. Let go of the limiting beliefs that are preventing you from achieving your dreams. Let go, and follow your passion. Try something new, and get out of that comfort zone.
When life becomes “comfortable,” the universe usually throws you a curve ball to change things up a bit. Sometimes, its best if you can recognize that “comfort” and change things up yourself.
Try taking a painting class, martial arts, or learn to dance. Maybe you enjoy singing, or working with your hands. Look around you, and find a way to develop those passions, to see if they are in fact a “passion.” Open up to everything, and let go of the comfortable life you may have created for yourself.
That is, try new foods, meet new people, and put some energy back into your life. If you have yet to find your passion, or you tucked it away sometime ago, it’s time to dust it off and go after it. Don’t let yourself live this life without accepting your passions into it.
Love yourself enough to provide yourself with challenges that you define, rather than the world at large. Society and your environment dictate many of the challenges you face. Maybe its time that you give yourself a challenge or two on your own terms.
As you go about your day today, look around at the “comfort zone” that you may have created. There is nothing wrong with creating a comfortable life, but look for things that might bring in some excitement. Look for the patterns you have created, and make some changes today. Try something new, at least every waking hour today. Let go, and let yourself create.

Life is not about routine and patterns, but rather about adventure and excitement. Let that inner child in you go out into the world to play.

We definitely left our comfort zone today with an adventure to Boulder. After so many years it was like going to a new country. After wandering around and enjoying the town for several hours we found a very familiar face which was our reward for venturing out.
It was a beautiful day.
