Commit and Do

Posted - Oct• 27•14

Sometimes in life we have a tendency to “overcomplicate” things.  We spend more time analyzing than “doing.”  Sure, planning is important, but often times we paralyze ourselves doing the slow careful movements rather than committing and completing.

When we have work to do to improve our lives, we need to process everything that may be relevant.  However, at some point, we need to make the “commitment” to “doing.”  That means, we put everything behind us and charge ahead without looking back.  The days for “looking back” are over, and we are past it.  Now, we “look forward” and proceed with the confidence that may have been  kept buried deep inside of us.

We walk through the “invisible door” leaving the past behind us.  We now enter a new world of our future!  This is a wonderful place to be.  The door behind us closes and we no longer even want to look back at the past.  We have done the work necessary to process our past, and to take us to the next place in our life’s journey.

If you find yourself hanging onto something that has been very instrumental in your past, you might want to think about your future.   What is it you would like to be?  What are the beacons that you would like to “plant” for yourself?  Now, can you let go of the past to proceed on this new journey?  Does the past define you?  Are you dependent on the past as a reason for your situation?  Are you ready to let it all go?

Flip the switch and turn on the light to the now!  When we live in the past, we cannot live in the now!  Similarly, we talk about living in the future, but the only time you have is “now.”  Plan for the future, plan your next step, and let go of outcome.  Live this moment on the path of life.  Continually, turning back to look over your shoulder at where you have been only serves to misguide you at this moment in your life.

When you step through the door into your life, letting go of the past, you can live in this moment – rather than trying to “un-live” the past.  Walk through that door, and never look back.  This is the first step to the rest of your life, which may be the most important step you will take!
