Commit to Joy and Peace

Posted - Feb• 22•16

Energy is everywhere.  It is continuously flowing through our bodies.  The question is, what kind of energy are you going to exhume?  Is it negative energy that brings people down, or positive, loving energy that helps lift others?  The choice is yours.

When we feel the energy of the universe flowing through us, we sometimes have difficulties identifying it.  However, if we sit quietly with ourselves we might see the source of that energy coming from our thoughts.  Think for a moment about an incident that may have upset you.  What happens to your body?  You might begin to tense up, maybe parts of your body, such as your back, neck, or shoulders start to throb with pain.  Those are indications of the negative energy created by your thoughts.

Now think about a wonderful event in your life.  Look at what is now happening to your body.  Maybe your heart rate begins to slow.   Maybe that throbbing in your back and neck subsides.   That is an indication of the effect of positive thoughts.

Okay, so what can you do to keep the positive thoughts coming, while stifling the negative ones?  We have talked much about this topic in the past, and have given some guidance which we will summarize here.  In general, there are too many thoughts racing through your mind in a day to “monitor.”  It is difficult to only think positive thoughts all of the time – especially, since we cannot monitor all of those thoughts.

The key, is to look at your current emotional and physical state.  Maybe you feel the throbbing in your head, whenever something is beginning to upset you.  Maybe you feel tension in the back of your legs.  There are many physical indicators that might cue you to the source – negative thoughts.

There are also many emotional things to look at.  Maybe you feel some anger, bitterness, or fear.  Maybe you feel agitated.  Those are emotional indicators that you are processing negative thoughts.

So, now that we have an idea on how to “detect” a period when we are having negative thoughts, what can we do about it?  The key is to make a commitment to joy and happiness.  That means, we do not “play the victim” at the persuasion of the ego.  That means we are not going to allow ourselves to be hurt.  No, that means we are truly committed to having joy and peace in our lives.

After we can truly make that commitment of peace to ourselves, we can then commit to positive thoughts.  When we detect negativity, we simply switch our thoughts to something positive!  It’s really that easy.  Remember, we have already made the commitment to ourselves for joy and peace.  If you do not do that, and are hanging onto the “joy” the ego thinks it’s giving you by dwelling on negative emotions, this technique will not work.  You must truly want to experience joy and peace at the expense of not allowing yourself to feel hurt and bitterness.

This lifetime, like all other lifetimes have their share of challenges.  The question is how are you in the face of a challenge?  Are you willing to make the commitment to joy, happiness and peace without giving into the ego’s need for bitterness, anger and hurt?
