“What is commitment?”
“It’s when you say you are going to do something and then you stick with it until it’s done.”
“What if it never gets done.”
“Then you stay with it – forever.”
Ω
When we “commit” to something either verbally to another person, or silently to ourselves, we need to stick with it. Yes, there are times when we set beacons, and then along the way, we modify and “tweak” those beacons. When we make a commitment to ourselves we may have to “tweak” that commitment as time goes on as well.
However, when we commit to someone else, we are not at liberty to “tweak” anything without getting the approval to do such from the person to whom we are committing. We cannot simply modify the commitment on “our end” without at least a discussion. Yes, if the other party involved does not meet their end of the commitment that could be justification for you to make changes to your side as well.
The thing to remember is that whenever we do not “follow through” on our commitments, we are cheating ourselves. We are giving up our integrity for convenience . When things get tough, we put our integrity on the line and follow through with our commitments. If we do not follow through on our commitments, we are whittling away at our core.
No matter what other people say, we always know the truth – our truth that we hold deep inside. When we go against our integrity, we are incongruent with our truth which can create inner conflict. When we live our integrity and are synchronized with our inner-truth, we have harmony.

Today is a great day to do a “commitment inventory” to review and understand your explicit and implicit commitments that exist in your life. Identify areas that need your attention and get back to living a life of harmony!
