What if your intuition was always right? What if every time you trusted your “gut” you were right? What if your inner self is communicating with you and guiding you, and you do not realize it? What if you have all of the answers inside, but are always looking elsewhere for the answers?
You inner self, is “communicating” with you. It is attempting to guide you on your life’s journey. Will it prevent you from learning the lessons you need to learn? No. But it will help guide you in the direction that you may need to go at the current point in time.
So many times we look “outside” of ourselves for the answers. We talk to friends, family, our mate, our teachers, our co-workers, our church, or minister. We look to someone else for the answers that we already have deep inside. Sure, it’s always good to bounce things off of others, but when it comes down to life beliefs, it’s time to look inward.
When we look to society, friend, family, and organizations for the development of our belief systems, we are effectively saying, “you think about it, because I care not to think about it.” After all, surely someone else is more qualified to define your beliefs other than you!
Why do so many people let others define their beliefs? Why is it we do not spend the time ourselves truly thinking about these things and making a decision for ourselves. Over time, we can easily adjust and adapt our belief systems to fit our current state of growth. When an organization defines a belief system, it rarely changes – which should be an indicator that maybe you should venture out on your own.
What types of belief systems are we speaking of? Well, for starters the belief of an “after life” or an energy that lives beyond the physical body. What about beliefs on different roles that humans on Earth need to abide by – such as who can be married? What about beliefs regarding how children should be raised, or elderly parents taken care of? There are beliefs about education, health care, poverty and feeding the hungry.
There are so many different beliefs that people carry, from what type of toilet paper to purchase, to how should I behave in this lifetime to guarantee everlasting salvation. So, we ask you, what are your beliefs? Now, how did you come up with those beliefs?
Many people have taken on the beliefs that were passed to them down the lineage of their ancestors. “My parents taught me this, so I believe it.” What they may not realize is that their parents taught them, and so on. At what point do you begin thinking for yourself?
Organizations have lots of rules and lots of leaders. Typically, a leader from centuries ago, or set of leaders, define the rules of the organization. Those “rules” are treated like the everlasting truth. For generations, people come to the organization and follow the rules – or at least appear to follow the rules. After many generations, some people choose to leave the organization, but often times those that considered leaving when they were younger, become stronger within the organization.
They may now have children and need to set an example of their commitment to the organization and the rules. When they were younger they may have doubted things, but somewhere along the way, they acquiesced. They no longer doubt, but defend to the end the position and beliefs of the organization.
The organization may be a religion, a political party, or a profession. You may often times see the similarities across all of them. The question, is what made you decide to let go of the little “lagging” when you were younger, where you questioned some of the practices and beliefs? Why did you give in and ignore your inner self?
Now, we are not saying there is anything wrong with belonging to these organizations. However, you might ask whether or not you agree with everything that is being taught. If not, are you allowed to remain in the organization with an “ala carte belief system” or is that allowed? If that is not allowed, you might begin to wonder why that is so.
It never hurts to keep being inquisitive and to question. However, we are not saying that you should doubt and question everything. What we are saying is that you should make a conscious decision on your own beliefs for your own reasons – no one else’s. Then as time goes on you need to allow yourself to modify and adjust those beliefs.

Beliefs change with you as you grow and begin to understand your own truth. Painting yourself into a corner where you are not allowed to modify your beliefs should be an indication to you that you are not following your truth.
