“I’ve written the date at least a half-dozen times today, and yet, I cannot remember it.”

Sometimes we go through our day, without engaging in it. We go through the motions, but we don’t even remember doing things. When you recognize this happening to you – stop, and reset.
Reset yourself, by stopping what you are doing, taking a deep breath with your eyes closed. Then open your eyes and take in the beauty around you. Take in the sounds, the smells and the scenery. Let go of any preconceived notion that “I’ve been here before and nothing is new.” Open up to life, and be engaged in your life.
Being engaged in life, begins with intentional living. When we do everything in our life with intention, we are “taking it all in.” Take for instance, the food and drink that you put in your mouth. Do you do that with intention, or impulse? When you walk by that leftover holiday candy bowl, do you put a morsel in your mouth, without even thinking about it – or worse yet, without tasting it?
Living with intention, is about making conscious decisions. “I see the candy, but that is not in line with the food that I would like to eat today. I will have an apple instead.” Those types of decisions, are intentional choices.
Another example, includes how you interact with your partner, friends or colleagues. When we find ourselves becoming agitated, we can stop, take a deep breath and reset. “No, that is not how I choose to interact today. I will put on a smile and let them finish before I speak in a calm, peaceful manner.”
Don’t worry, you will have plenty of opportunities to “test out” intentional living. Most of us have been living on “auto-pilot” for most of our lifetimes that we may find us living those old habits. Keep on working though, on living with intention, and you will discover that life has so much more to offer!

Today is a good day to make conscious choices. Today is a good day to see what you’ve been missing in your life, by engaging in it!
