Everyone Likes You

Posted - Feb• 09•16

“How do you deal with the snide comments others make to you?”

“Oh, I never hear any snide comments.”

“Why not?”

“Because I believe everyone likes me!”

When we believe that people do not like us – that is what we see.  When we believe that the world is out to get us – that is what we see.  What we believe – we see!  It’s as simple as that.

So, we might ask, “why not change your beliefs?”  What would happen if you were wrong – and all of those people actually do like you?  That means you would be interpreting all of their actions, all of their behaviors and all of their communication with you, all wrong.  That means, you would be internalizing things that you created out of thin air!  That means, you would be focusing and internalizing negative energy within yourself unnecessarily!

Switch your beliefs.  Everyone who you think does not like you – flip it!  Convince yourself that they do like you.  Tell yourself that everyone likes you!  Look at how it changes your emotional state.  Do you feel a little lighter?

Yes, we know many of you are saying, “well, I just can’t do that, because I know they do not like me.”  Okay, let’s just assume they like you.  Why not?  When we assume something we can go ahead and live like it’s true.  After all, you most likely have been assuming the worst in others, so why not flip it to assume the best?

Think of the positive energy that is now directed your way.   Think about the people on the street, looking at you and liking you!  Think about everyone liking you.  What does that do to you?  After all, why not assume the best in everyone rather than the worst?  Why not assume the best in you?

Today is a great day to try a little experiment.  No matter how hard it is to convince yourself that everyone, or possibly a particular person likes you, you can assume everyone likes you.  Just assume for today, and the rest of the week that everyone likes you!  Now, when you hear someone say to you “nice outfit,”  you can say “thank you,” and assume they were being nice – because after all they like you!

When the day is over and you extend the experiment to the week, look at how you feel.  Let go of the emotional baggage that might be weighting you down unnecessarily.  Let go of the ego telling you that your are a victim.  Empower yourself and walk through the world with your head held high!  This is the first step in a simple “flip” of your beliefs.

What we believe is what we see.  The tendency is to always assume and believe the worst in people.  It’s time to change that, and flip our belief system to see the best in others, and to see the best in ourselves.   After all, everyone likes you!
