Finding Your Passions

Posted - Nov• 14•16

When you find your passion, it’s as though all of your so-called “problems” disappear, because you are focusing your thoughts on your passion.  When you find your passion, you will find that you are energized, because you are focusing on energetic things.  Find your passion and see what opens up for you.

So, what is your passion?  Do you know your passions?  We are not necessarily talking about careers and pursuits for so-called success.  No, your passion could be something as simple as planting a garden, painting a picture or making a soufflé.   Passions need not be exotic, but must come from a burning desire within.  Everyone has many passions, but few people have uncovered them.

Do you know of any of your passions?  Do you suspect you might know of one or two of your passions but you have not pursued them?  Maybe this week, you should focus some of the energy that you have been devoting to other less constructive things and think about your passions.   Now is the best time to find those passions and to begin the pursuit of them.

Often times we have a passion such as learning to play guitar, but we do not want to devote the time and energy into learning the guitar.  If that is the case, learning the guitar may not really be a passion.  A passion is one that easily overcomes barriers.  For someone who is passionate about learning the guitar, the obstacles to pursuing the knowledge and ability to play the guitar is minimal.  For some, the obstacles of paying for lessons, finding the time to get to the lesson, taking the time to practice and all is too much.   In those cases, your passion lies elsewhere.

When excuses begin to get in the way of pursuing your passion, you are not pursuing a passion at all.  Look for the things that do not seem to have obstacles for you, other than your willingness to go after it.  Those are your passions.   A passion is something that is all you can think about when you touch on its energy.   A passion is something that allows for you to “take a break” from the goings-on of the world.  A passion can consume your thoughts, your actions and your energies.  Yes, passions can be consuming so balance is necessary.  However, a person with a passion is much more enjoyable to be around!

When we find a passion or two in our life, we are given an opportunity to “take a break” from the stresses of the world and to energize ourselves.  Take the time to find your passion so that it can carry you through the ups and downs of this lifetime!
