As the days tick by, we might ask ourselves, “what do I have to show for it?” That is, what have I done over these days of my life that quickly pass by? It seems that the Mondays come quickly, and the Fridays a little slower, but the weeks and months pass by faster and faster. What do I have to show for all these days of my life?
The question might be, am I living my life the way that I intended, or am I just “getting by?” Am I living these days to the fullest, or am I just working to get to the weekend? And when I get to the weekend, am I using that time with intention, or living by default?
It is not easy at times to get through some days. Some days are a little more difficult than others. However, it is important to understand that each day can be “easy” if we start our day with the intention for “ease.” When we feel ourselves be a little uneasy about some of the upcoming events, we can go back to our intention of “ease” and let go of the nervousness. We can let go of the feelings of dread. We can let go of the anxiety, and look to our intentions.
Setting daily intentions are important. We recommend that you review your “beacon list” and set intentions to take yourself one step closer to those beacons. If you do this on a daily basis, when you get to the end of the week, or the beginning of the next week, you can see the progress that you’ve made. When the year comes to a close, you can see that progress and you will know what you “have to show” for that time in your life.
If we do not take the time to understand and to figure our where it is we would like to “be” in our life, we will have a difficult time getting “there.” The beacons that we place can be mobile, and we can alter those desires, but we need to have a starting place for us to place some focus in our life. If we live to work, and we find that we are no longer working, we may have a tough transitional period to figure out who we are.
Let go of the desire to have all of the answers when you place your beacon. Much like planning a trip. After you figure out where you would like to go, you start to plan the details on how to get there. Let your beacons serve as the “destinations” in your life, some in the short-term and some for your lifetime. After you have the destination, you can work each day on the details of the “itinerary.”

Plan your beacons, and make small adjustments as necessary to reach those beacons. Each day, you can move in that direction and soon you will find that you are enjoying the view from atop the “lighthouse.”
