As you walk along your journey, let gratitude be your compass. For with gratitude, anything looks possible.

When we find gratitude in our lives, we begin to look for what we “have” rather than what we “want.” That is not to say, that “wants” are bad, but we cannot “want” without an appreciation for where we are.
When we walk the journeys towards our beacons, we have a desire to be at a destination. While we walk, though, the destination may seem far away and unlikely. However, when we look at the beauty present around us, we may realize that the “destination” is where we are at this moment!
If you listen to most societies, there is a tendency to “accumulate.” There is a tendency to want “more.” When we appreciate and truly are grateful for this moment in our lives, and the state of our lives at this moment, we can then understand that desires are there to guide us, but are not necessary in our lives. We need to have beacons in order to know where it is we would like to go, but the beacons should not overshadow where we currently are!
Today is a perfect day to hourly take a “gratitude inventory.” Every time you see the hour of the day change, take a moment to find several things for which you are grateful. They need not be large things, but things that you are happy to have present in your life, at this moment. Yes, all things change, so what we are grateful for today may not be here tomorrow – that is why we need to appreciate it now!

When we live a life rooted in gratitude, we are able to find an appreciation for each moment of our lives. We can then open up to great things, for we no longer have a connection to desires and wants!
