“I just can’t seem to get anything done.”
“I had that problem, too. Then one day I had this idea. Now, I set my intention of what it is I would like to accomplish. ”
“Does it work?”
“For me it does. The key is to remember to set your intention every day or week.”
“I’ll give that a try.”

Getting things done in such a busy, distracting world can be difficult. Do you find that as you walk through your home, you have little “honey do’s” that you constantly forget about, but never remember at a time when you can actually do them? Sometimes, we make lists of chores that we need to do, but the list seems to grow faster than it takes to complete even the easiest of chore.
There is a constant struggle to balance the work in your life with the fun and enjoyment. Often times, we choose work over family, or family over work. The question is whether or not you are making a conscious decision on which one gets this moment of your life. Some people are on “auto pilot” and always choose one over the other. However, the key is to live with intention and make conscious decisions on where and how you spend this life’s moment.
We have talked in the past about setting weekly beacons, planning your next step daily to move towards those beacons and then to let go of outcome. The same approach can be used for tackling some of those outstanding “chores” that may be starting to overwhelm your life. Each chore can we written as a “beacon.” For example, you may have a fence that needs repair. The beacon could be “the fence is standing straight.” Now, you will need to decide each week which beacon it is you would like to accomplish. Some beacons may take longer than a week, or some shorter.
At first, it may be easiest to set only one beacon per week. Assuming you can attain a beacon each week, you will have completed some fifty chores in a year. The key, is to consciously decide what it is you would like to do this week. Each day, you might be able to work on a simple step, no matter how small. Maybe you need to pick up a few boards at the hardware store, or possibly you need to find a person that can repair your fence. In that case, the next step might be as simple as calling one company to get a price.

Life can be simple, if you let it, and live it with intention. It’s when we live without thinking and without allowing ourselves to help guide our lives, is when we feel like we cannot accomplish much. When we consciously decide what it is that gets our focus, we are like a laser that can penetrate through even the thickest of steel. Be that laser, and watch your life start to resemble some sense of order and balance.
