What is important in your life? Is it your family? Is it money? Is it your home? Is it your reputation? Is it your legacy?

When we live our lives, we often fail to really ask ourselves what is truly important to me. We live without making a conscious decision as to our priorities in life. We live maybe with other people’s priorities, steeped in religion, our upbringing, our society at large. When was the last time that you really thought about your intention for your life?
When we do not define our intentional way of life, we have a tendency to let the things that matter most, such as our family, go by the wayside while we pursue something that matters less – such as money. When we prioritize the people, things, and events that are important to us, we can then place the energy accordingly.
Keep in mind, many people rattle off their priorities automatically regurgitating what they may have “heard” from someone else, or what they have learned from their parents or other “authority” figures. However, it is important that you define these things for yourself. For example, if you have a choice between saving a loved one, or earning more money, which would you choose? Typically, when presented with those kinds of choices, it makes the priority of your list easy.
The reason we feel it is important to define the priorities in your life, is because there is a limited amount of energy that you can exert each day. This helps in figuring out where it is you should expend that energy. It allows for you to live with intention. It also allows for you to define beacons that match what’s really of importance in your life.
Yes, we understand that family may be more important than money, and that you need to earn money to support your family. That is a dilemma that people have struggled with for generations. The answer to those kinds of dilemmas is “balance.” It’s about having balance in your life. If you teeter to one side or the other – while ignoring other things of importance in your life, you may end up with neither.
It is important to learn how to balance all of the items of importance, according to their priority in your life. The important thing is to live and expend your energy with intention. It’s when we go on “auto-pilot” throughout our days and our life that we get to the end and wonder what happened. We realize we spent our energies in the wrong areas.
The good news is that it is never too late! You can start today, by re-prioritizing your “what’s important to me” list and focusing your energies on those of highest importance. The key is to not let another moment go by without living your life with intention.

When we understand what is important to us, we can live with intention. When we live with intention, we have no regrets when this life comes to a close and we return home!
