“What are you thinking?”
“I’m just thinking about the day I met you. That was the happiest day of my life.”
The couple embraced as they held hands walking down the beach celebrating their 25th anniversary.

What do you think about? This seems like somewhat of an odd question, but is one that you might want to answer. A typical response is, “lots of things.” However, it’s the “theme” of those thoughts that you might want to consider.
Sometimes we do not give ourselves the opportunity to “think.” We may think that we are thinking, but we are usually letting our mind run rampant with random thoughts originating from “outside.” When we begin to consciously make an intention on what we will think about, those thoughts usually originate from “inside.”
Thinking is not to be taken lightly. We need to provide some quiet time where we can just sit, and possibly listen to music, while we let ourselves “think.” At this point, you have some choices to make. You can think about what Aunt Mabel said at the dinner table, trying to analyze her words for some back-handed meaning. Or, you can spend the time thinking about things that can provide inspiration, energy, happiness and joy!
Believe it or not, the amount of time that one usually takes to “think for themselves” is limited for many. When you do take the time to be by yourself and think, you should treat that time with respect and gratitude. Let your inner self “speak to you” during that time. Sometimes, we do not provide an opportunity for “listening to” our inner selves.
When we sit quietly in either a “mindful meditation” or just being by ourselves, we can quiet our mind and our senses so that we provide for an opportunity to “hear” our inner selves. Let your mind be free of the daily chatter, and open up to the core of who you are. Listen to what your spiritual self may be trying to tell you. Give your inner self that opportunity.
Although, we may feel that we are always “thinking,” we may not be thinking with intention. Today, is a great day to begin thinking with intention. Your mind is a wonderful resource that is more valuable than the most powerful computer. Make some conscious decisions on how you want to utilize that mind, with your thoughts. Take the time to place intentional thoughts in your mind, while ignoring the ego-centric wasteful thoughts.

Your mind is a powerful resource. It is up to you to decide how you wish to spend your “thoughtful moments.”
