Deep within each of us is a “flame” that burns with excitement. Children often feel that excitement when a special holiday or birthday is approaching. Adults often feel that excitement when anticipating a vacation or special event. That flame burns constantly and is never extinguished.
However, most of us do not access that “excitement flame” but rather waits for it to be seen. At some point in our lives, the “flame of excitement” seems to be hidden and not accessible. We live our lives day in and day out, trying to survive the day without an attempt at adding something “special” to our day. Our lives tick by and the excitement once accessed for holidays and birthdays has even smoldered.
The question that you might care to ask yourself is, “what can I do to bring some excitement and joy into my life?” Think about your day at work, or wherever you spend it. What is it you can do to make your day “special” or exciting? The choice is yours as to how you would like this day to go. It can be the run of the mill routine day, or you can make the commitment to be happy and joyful.
Yes, this is all easier said than done. It takes much practice to keep the “flame of excitement” burning. Much like it takes practice to keep a clear mind when meditating, it takes practice to keep your joyful intention for an hour, let alone a day. However, with practice you will find that the stretches of joy and excitement in your day grow longer and longer. Pretty soon, you may find that you were able to keep that joyful intention for the entire hour!
