The man made his way slowly, yet efficiently through the crowd, taking one step at a time, while keeping “2 legs” on the ground. He was still getting used to the cane he recently acquired. He supposed it was time for yet another chapter in his life. This time, the chapter involved a new thing to carry with him – forever.
Life changes ever so quickly. We go from what seems like crawling, to getting fitted for a new cane, in what seems like a blink of an eye. Where does all the time go, we ask? Only to have it answered with the years and years of work, and the aging family which keeps spreading the family tree as we work our way up to the “root” of that tree.
We have spoken about aging in many past writings, so there is nothing new. Aging is something that must happen in the physical world, so there is no point in attempting a disguise for it. Growing older cannot be hidden, although many attempt it. Even if age can be hidden from the view of others, the universe knows that everyone is getting older.
The choice is simple – deny it and be refused the life you have remaining, or to embrace it and to enjoy the life that lies before you. One can try as they might, to ignore the changes in their body, hoping that those changes are short-term. In general, it is a good approach to plan for what you would like to attract into your life, rather than festering on the things that you would like to avoid. However, at some point, aging is a universal law that may not be ignored after some point in time.
That does not mean that you need to accept your plight and to “give up” thinking your life is over. No, quite the contrary. You can accept your age, the changes to your body and mind, while refusing to let it change who you are and what you want to accomplish with the amount of life you have left.
Many people have accomplished great things many years in age after others who have “given up.” You do not have to accept the life that you think you have in front of you, but rather, create the life that you would like to have in front of you, for the years you have remaining. After all, you most likely have much longer and a more fruitful life in front of you than you may think.
Give yourself the gift of a full life. One that includes the years that have passed by, with an optimistic future for all of the years ahead. After all, no one really knows how much “time” they have left, and you owe it to yourself and your friends and family to live it to the fullest.
When this life passes forward to the next one, you will take everything you have learned in all of your lifetimes to use in the next one. We understand that there is little solace in knowing that you may choose to live another lifetime, when your family and friends that survive you in this one may feel lost. However, it should provide comfort in knowing that you will never cease to exist, and will live on for an eternity.

As we age, we are not nearing our mortality, but rather we are beginning to understand that we will be returning to our “home” where we can be free of our aging bodies and be “young” again!

This is a wonderful post for all of us who are reaching our elderly age. We do need to accept this stage in our lives and “Live Life to the Fullest”. Thank you for this message

This post was wonderful, brought tears to my eyes. It is so true and yes we are in another
phase of life and if we can accept it and realize this is God’s Plan we will enjoy it. We are
after all preparing to go home.
