Life can be easy. Yes, this seems like a simplification, but no one said life needs to be difficult. Yes, there are difficult periods in everyone’s life. We are not belittling that fact. However, many people believe that life needs to be difficult. So much so, that when it seems to be “too easy” they often subconsciously “go looking” for difficulty and drama to bring into their life.
It’s okay to let your life proceed with little conflict and much happiness and joy. While many around you may attempt to show you the negative “suffering” of the world, it is okay for you to choose to not “take that in.” We can have empathy for the suffering that others may be going through, but we do not need guilt for our own happiness, joy, and “easy life.”
What makes an “easy life?” Well, that would depend on the person. For some, just having enough money to make it through another month without worry, may be an indication of an “easy life.” For others, it might be to have good health for another period of time. The definition of an “easy life” is dependent upon each person. However, we caution you from saying someone else has an “easy life” while your life is full of hardship and suffering.
That is the ego talking, and that implies you are making judgments about others for which you know very little. You can only make a decision about your own life – do you choose simplicity and ease, or hardship and suffering? It’s really a choice you make in your mind, and then your definition of “ease” and “suffering” will change accordingly. If you choose a life of “ease” you will see various events with little emotion, whereas another person who chooses a life of “suffering” may treat those same events much differently.
Take for example, having a blow-out on the way to work. Someone who lives a life of “ease” may decide this is a good opportunity to learn where the spare tire is in their new car. Someone who chooses a life of suffering, may get upset asking why things like this always happens to them. They may let this one event ruin their entire day, rather than being grateful they were no hurt. The choice is yours on how you care to live your life.
A life may contain some periods that many define as “suffering.” That is only a natural process that everyone might go through. The question is whether or not “suffering” overshadows “ease.” Many people feel they need to suffer in order to grow, or in order to show the world how strong they are despite their difficult life. That is the ego acting on their behalf. Turn the tables and show the world how easy your life can be in spite of the difficulties that others may perceive. However, that too, has a hint of “egoness.”
