Living From Within

Posted - Jun• 01•15

When we start looking “outside” for validation, we will never be satisfied.

There is a tendency to “rank” ourselves based on others.  In athletics, we might have ratings so that we know where we stand relative to others.  In life, we might “size” ourselves up against our peers.   Many times we might wait for someone to comment on our hair cut, or outfit.  We are looking for validation of who we are, or how “good” we are, from others.

When we give up the need to compare ourselves against others, or to wait for external validation from others, we are letting go of our insecurities.  When we feel good about ourselves and about who we are, we do not see the need for external praise or validation.  When we enjoy a sport, we do not see the need for winning.  Although, we may enjoy giving a sport our “all” we are not attached to the outcome.

Look around today, for areas of your life where you might be using external validation.  Be objective as you take an inventory of the instances and circumstances where you look for others to confirm what you already know.  When we “know” there is no need for external validation we are living from within.  Find those circumstances where you are “fishing” for some sort of validation.

Open up to the idea that “you know best” for you!  Take back your self-esteem and listen to your inner-self for guidance and direction.  When you live from within, you will always be able to access happiness and joy!
