Living With Intention

Posted - Feb• 23•14

Intention not only applies to how you would like to live the current moment, but it also applies to many other areas of your life.  For instance, how you spend your money,  what you put in your mouth for nourishment, how your physical body is maintained, etc.

Living with intention means you apply “intent” to every aspect of your life.  What is your intent for the food and drink that you will be placing in your mouth today?  What is your intent for the money that you will spend today?  What is your intent for how you will maintain your body today?

These questions, when asked at the beginning of your day, week, month, and year, are also applicable to beacons that you might place. When asking a question of “intent” you are saying that I need to  be “present” in that aspect of my life.  You are saying that you are able to live the way that you think you need to be living at this moment.

If you say, it is my intention that I purchase this triple latte coffee with my hard-earned money then that is good.  It means that you have evaluated the purchase and what it takes to earn that money and you feel that is where you would like to spend that money.  However, it’s when you get in the “habit” of purchasing that large coffee every morning, and may even get somewhat annoyed during the process, due to the large lines and the wait, that you are living on “auto pilot.”

When you act without purpose and without thinking, is when you let the hard-earned money flow through you and out into the world without your knowledge.

The same goes for nourishment of the body.  When you eat and drink with intention, you are saying that “yes, I am fully aware that I am going to eat this cookie, and understand the consequences of it.”   That is much different from grabbing a box of cookies and eating them while watching a movie – not realizing nor more importantly even tasting, those cookies.

When you look at the maintenance of your physical body, that is, the “maintenance” that requires work on your part, you need to live with intention here as well.  Do you think that you need to provide your body the exercise that it might be wanting?  Do you think that your body can live for many more decades without some sort of work on your part to maintain it?

Maintaining the condition and physique of the body is a difficult task, since as we age the body ages as well.  The physique starts to leave us and the once vital, energetic body begins to change during the transition of aging.  When you think about the current path that you are on, you might ask yourself if you even considered the maintenance of your body, or if, once again, you are living by “default.”

We are trying to point out the need to understand that everything that you do, everything that you spend – including money and energy, for money is a form of energy, is up to you.  Whether or not you are making conscious decisions in these areas is something that you need to evaluate.

When you live each moment with “intent” you discover how you can “shift” your mind to really “see” and “engage” in the world around you.  When you live your life with “intent” you begin to see the “leaks” of energy that may have been previously disguised to you.
