It’s a Monday morning, and the alarm clock is sounding. You try to remember for a moment why the alarm is going off, when you realize the weekend is over. ” It’s Monday morning,” you think to yourself. “It’s time to do it all over again.”
You reluctantly turn off the noise, and attempt to pull yourself out of bed. Today, it seems you are less motivated than other days. What can you do to get yourself motivated and excited about the day and week ahead?
We understand that everyone has mornings like this. We understand that there are times when you may have low energy and lack motivation. Often times people ask how they can motivate themselves to “make it through another day.” Well, we would like to start with, setting your sights on one of your beacons, and taking a step in that direction - no matter how small the step.
Life is about self-motivation and understanding that not every day “is a party.” However, if you let it, you can have an exciting day – every day of your life. One of the first things that we suggest on days where you are lacking the energy and motivation to get yourself going, is to take a “gratitude inventory.”
That is, start listing things for which you are grateful. The first thing on the list, might be the job that you are not wanting to go to. How many other people do you think would love to have your job? The next things you might look at could be your physical health, your mind, your family, your home, the food in your cabinets, etc.
When you begin to go through a list of things for which you are grateful, the energy begins to resurface in your body. You begin to understand that you have a good life, and that many people would love to trade places with you. You might begin to realize that the day ahead of you, is an opportunity that loads of others would love to have.
You might begin to understand that lack of motivation, and energy begins with a thought. When you begin to think about your passions and love for life, energy enters your body. That energy can turn into excitement to extinguish the lack of motivation you had a few moments prior.
Think about the love you have for others, and the passions you have for life. Think about how you will use this day to pursue those loves, and how you can show your gratitude for this life, by honoring and living this very day. There are many people who wish that they could live your day. Show them that you are not going to squander it.

When energy and motivation is lacking, simply take an inventory of things for which you are grateful. Then identify a life’s passion and take the next step in its pursuit. Then you can watch the energy and excitement enter your day.

It is true that a positive thought will direct the day to be appreciated. Especially if one is fortunate enough to view the spectacular mountains covered with sunshine.
I need this, and will do so, thanks for the advice.
