Patience Replaces Time

Posted - Mar• 09•15

When life gets going a bit “too fast” for us, we can use the energy “brake” of patience to slow things down.

Sometimes we get so caught up in the events of our lives we fail to realize that we can slow things down, with the simple concept of patience.   By applying a sense of patience to ourselves, we can take a deep breath, set our intentions, and let go of the outcome.  We can lie in wait to see how the events unfold – rather than trying to control every one of those events.

When we have patience we begin to let go of the concept of time.  We place ourselves in the event before us, letting go of the clock on the wall, the watch on our arm, and the phone in our pocket.  Practicing patience is a necessary step towards living a life of “mindfulness.”

As you go about your day today, look for moments where you can practice the concept of patience.  Maybe you are facing a yellow light on your drive to work and need to make a quick decision on stopping or “stepping on it” to get through it before it changes to red.  Take this moment of wait at the red light to appreciate your life and your surroundings.  Maybe you can use the “red lights” in your life as “gratitude lights.”  Whenever you are “waiting” you fill the time with finding gratitude in your life.

Sometimes the universe will slow things down in your life when necessary.  That may come in the form of illness that might keep you home when you otherwise would have a busy day at the office.  Look at those “red lights” as opportunities to reset yourself and practice a little patience.

When we can understand, appreciate and practice patience in our lives, we will better see how the universe is guiding us through this life’s journey.  Take a deep breath, slow down, and let go of the concept of time!
