When fear starts to creep into your thoughts, it is time to take a “gratitude inventory.” Look at all of the things, people, and events in your life for which you are grateful. Look back on your life at other times when you were fearful, and how things turned out. When we live in fear, we are living for “tomorrow” and ignoring today and the present.
A life without fear is much like a life without worry. When we can live without fear of the unknown and worry over the known, we can understand that “not knowing” is part of the excitement of life. If we could control every aspect of our lives, imagine the stress that would involve. However, when we can attract the people, events and things into our lives for which we place our energies, we are able to let go of the need to control in the first place.
Look at a twig floating down a stream. The twig may periodically get caught up, but will continue to float down the stream. You know that the twig most certainly will not float upstream! Now think about the stresses that you would put on yourself if you tried to control the path down the stream the twig is to take. “No, don’t take that side of the log,” you might blurt out. “I wanted you to go the other way.”
The same is true for your life. Think of yourself as a “twig” in the universal stream of energy. You know that you will end up somewhere “down stream.” You might paddle your way upstream for a bit, but eventually you will tire and give into the current. When you are in the flow, you can use your paddle to help guide you to where it is you think you would like to go. However, that guiding is not necessary.
When we understand that we are in the flow of energy in the universe, we can begin to let go when we take a so-called “wrong turn,” for we understand that there are no “wrong turns” in the first place. We can guide our lives but when we begin to trust in the universe, we can let go of the fears and worries, for we know that we are exactly where we need to be at this moment in our lives.

This is the place in your life that you are to be right now. Accept it, work with it, and be grateful. Plant your beacons, plan your next step, and then let go of the outcome – knowing that whatever happens is exactly as it should be!
