We would like to talk about the feeling of being rushed that so many people on the physical world experience. It is a feeling that makes people miss their lives for the pursuit of a better more joyous event or life. But in fact, they simply miss their life by pursuing this never-ending holy grail, as it were. Take for instance, the people stuck in rush hour traffic. They think that they need to hurry to where they are going, be it work, or home. They want to get to where they aren’t in the shortest amount of time possible. What really happens is that they end up missing out on the experiences right before their eyes. Be it a bird on a street lamp or a beautiful scene in the distance. They are so focused on the things that they do not want, be it traffic, a particular type of drive, or the like that they do not take the opportunity to enjoy the moment.
This is also a metaphor for how people go through their lives. Every day, they treat their life and their day as though they are stuck in rush hour traffic. They hurry through their discussions with their colleagues, their families or the like, so that they can get to the event of the task that they really want to do. Forgetting that the little things along the way are every bit as important, or maybe more so. But, they think they know what is best instead of listening to what the universe is telling them, and go about their day trying to control it. When in fact, they should be letting the universe control their day and simply enjoying the ride. Yes, it is possible for you to enjoy the ride of what you call your day. Listen to what the universe is telling you rather than occupying yourself with so much desire for control that you miss the things that matter. Be it an unplanned phone call from a relative, or friend, or maybe an interruption that was unplanned.
Hurrying off to work, rather than listening to your son tell you about his concern for the day he has before him. Or reading the report that you need to do before you get to work during breakfast rather than connecting with the rest of your family. Pay attention. Take notice, of these seemingly small opportunities throughout your day to make a difference in the relationships that you hold with your family and those that are important to you Too many times, we put aside the people who are important to us, because we can, and we know they will understand, for the tasks and people who in the long run, mean little to our joyous being.
When you’re “stuck” in traffic, take the time to enjoy the quiet, collect your thoughts, and be prepared to change into your fun family “clothes” when you get home. The drive can serve as a buffer zone, where you can change from one hat to the next, leaving the other in the car. Treat life as though the interruptions on the road are welcomed and appreciated. Enjoy the drive, because the drive is in fact the final destination.
When you are getting younger you will see that you can in fact enjoy the way along the road we call life. You can choose to grow older, or younger, the choice is yours. Your body grows older, but you are not your physical self. You can choose to grow younger with each day if you so desire, and make the conscious decision to do so. The choice is yours. Much like you can choose to be “stuck” in traffic, or to be enjoying your day, each and every day.
When you were younger, you thought that growing older was the thing that you wanted. When you are older, you long for being younger. When you are at work, you wish you were at home, yet while at home ,you spend all of your time getting ready or thinking about work. See the dichotomy? Get out of that pattern, and accept the things that the universe presents to you. Get away from the desire to be somewhere else, to be someone else, to be a different age, to be in a different form, etc. Accept what you have, and appreciate it, because you have exactly what you are supposed to have. The universe provides you with everything that you need, you only need to accept the fact that you do in fact have what you need.
Tomorrow is a new day. It is the first step of a thousand mile journey. Live each day for what it is. Do not attempt to make it something it is not, accept what is thrown at you while noticing only the things you choose to notice, and ignoring the things you care not to see. You will find that if you live each day in that way, you will live a joyous life, each and every moment. You will not have to wait until you reach your destination, because you will be enjoying each step on your journey.
You will actually never arrive at the so-called destination. You will be driving in your car, and you can choose to be enjoying the ride, or to be frustrated while “stuck” in traffic Either way, you will always be in your car driving somewhere, for when you reach the destination there will be a new one to begin the next day. The destination is not the purpose of the trip, the destination is the focus of the trip, but not the reason for it. Enjoy the drive, it may be your last. But do not let the fear of it being your last “trip” keep you motivated. Use the beauty of the scenery to motivate you and to bring you joy.
The scenery is always there and it’s always beautiful, but unfortunately, few people see it. But those that do, have a never-ending smile on their face, and an unlimited supply of joy in their heart. They are truly the people who are happy and will always be happy.
We would like to end with the following. When you are on the road in your car, or merely on the road of life trying to get through your day. You must always take the time to look out one of the windows that surrounds you to enjoy the beauty around you. That beauty is there for all to see, but few take the time and open their eyes to see it, and to enjoy it, and to bring it into their heart. Take the time to see the beauty in each and every day, in each and every person that you encounter and in each and every challenge that you meet. For once you can see that beauty, you will then know that you have in fact arrived at your “destination.”

The road of endless destinations is always in front of you on the journey that never ends. Take a breath, open your eyes, and enjoy the beauty around you. For your journey will never end, the destination is in fact the journey itself.
