Samantha’s House

Posted - Apr• 22•16

“Mommy.  Who am I?”

“Well.  You are a wonderful seven-year-old girl who I love dearly.”

“Yah, but that doesn’t tell me who I am?”

“Okay.  You are Samantha Johnson who lives on 1210 Eldon Drive in Tempe Arizona.”

“I guess you don’t know either, then.”

The little girl had been thinking for many days now about who she was.  It seemed at times she was getting a glimpse of a much older person, but she felt that was ludicrous.  “Could I be that older person in my dreams?”  She would ask herself.

As the years went by, the question would be forgotten for sometime, but inevitably would resurface again – sometimes for months.  She could not help but wonder who she really was.

When she celebrated her 21st birthday, she was once again reminded of the question.  She was no longer seven years old, and did not live on 1210 Eldon drive anymore.  Was she now a different person?  Her name was the same, but if she married, that too, might change.  She began to think that she is more than the body that is labeled as “Samantha Johnson.”

Several years later, she in fact married and changed her name to “Samantha Peters.”  Yup, she thought, “I am not my old name anymore now either.”

After she gave birth to her first child, she held the newborn in her arms and the question resurfaced again, “who am I now?”

“I guess I’m now a mother,”  she thought to herself.

The time continued to tick by on mother nature’s clock and Samantha became a grandmother.  She hadn’t thought about her life-long question for sometime anymore until one day her youngest grandchild asked her a question out of the blue, “grandma, who am I?”

The six-year-old boy seemed to have the same questions that she had asked herself her entire life.  He looked at her with a big smile waiting for the answer.  He expected her grandmother must know everything – including the answer to his question.

“Well, Bradford.  I really do not know.  That is a question you will have to answer for yourself.  But, what I do know is that you are much more than what you see when you look in the mirror.  You are so much more than that.”

That night, Samantha realized that the answer to her question was always within herself.  She also knew in her heart that she, too, was much more than what she saw when looking in the mirror.  She realized that she is the person “behind” herself.  She is the person who is energizing her body, but will live on long after her body dies.  She now knew that she is an infinite being living temporarily in” Samantha’s House.”

Think about the person that is directing you and your life.  The presence behind your eyes.  The calming voice in your heart.  That is the real you!
