“Shhh. Listen.”
“Listen to what?”
“Everything.”
Ω
Do you ever take the time to quiet yourself and listen? When you listen from your “core” you hear and feel everything. Listening is not just done with your ears. Listening can occur in your mind, your ears, your eyes, and your body.
How many times do you miss seeing something because you are thinking? Have you ever driven to work thinking about your day, and wondered what happened over the past few blocks? You were “seeing” with your eyes, but you weren’t “listening” with them.
When we “listen” we are engaging in the world around us, with every fiber of our being. We are devoting our attention, both mentally and physically to whatever it is we are “listening” to. Think about how many times you were introduced to someone, and immediately “forgot” their name. You did not forget their name because you have a bad memory. No, you “forgot” their name because you did not “hear” it in the first place. You were not “listening.” Your ears heard their name, but your mind was somewhere else. That is an example, of hearing with your ears, but not listening with your being.
There are many energies and phenomena that you can “listen” for. You can feel the energy of a church, or hear the singing of the mountains. The world is full of subtleties that most of us miss because we do not listen for them.

Today is a great day to begin your journey of “listening.” Really work on engaging in every conversation that you are a part of, by quieting your mind and listening with your ears, your mind, and your heart. Let go of the need to talk, and listen!

You are exactly right, even though I try, I don’t always listen attentively, I will work on it.
