Team World

Posted - Jan• 30•15

When we begin to “go the extra distance” for those close to us, we can use the “team concept” to apply in other areas of our lives.   The “team” extends beyond the family into the neighborhood, region, country, and world at large!

It’s when we begin to open up to the idea that we are all a “team” that we can begin to view others as ourselves.   Rather than passing judgment, we send empathy.  Rather than criticizing, we pitch in and help.

Think about your team in your neighborhood.  Do you have one neighbor that leaves the trash lying in the street in front of their house?  If so, go ahead and pick it up.  Go the extra distance for those in your community as well.  The “team concept” does not, and should not begin and end with your own family.  The world is a team – “Team World.”

When we think of everyone on the planet as being part of “our team” we have a shift in the way we think about others.  Maybe we have a team member that is struggling and we have an idea on what we can do to help.  Maybe another “team member” in the neighborhood is out of town and needs their driveway shoveled or their law mowed.   Think about how we can “have each other’s back.”

Now, you might say, “that’s all well and good, but they would never do that for me.”   You could make the same argument with yesterday’s writing on how the man doesn’t pick up his socks.  “If I pick up his socks, he’ll never learn.  Besides, what does he do for me?”

Those are valid concerns, but a person that is focused on giving does not see the need to receive.  Ultimately, we all know that what we “put out to the universe” is what we get back.  As such, givers know that what they give they will ultimately receive.  It might not come from your mate, or from the neighbor whose lawn you mowed, but it will come back to you!

We do not give to others in order to receive, but rather because we feel it is the right thing to do.  When another neighbor sees you out picking up the trash in the street, they may see that as an example on how they might behave.  The best leaders, do not lead, they demonstrate!

Build up your “family and close friends team.”  Then you can extend your “team” to your community and ultimately to the world.  After all, we are all on “Team World!”
