The Enlightening Birthday Wish

Posted - Mar• 18•16

“Happy birthday to you!”  The group sang.

“Now make a wish and blow out the candles.”

The man smiled and thought about his wish.  Where had the year gone?  He thought to himself.  I wonder what I’ll do this year, and how fast that one will go?

As the man thought about his wish, he sunk deep into his thoughts.   He closed his eyes and let the thoughts carry him away into another world.

In that world, the man opened his eyes to see an old man with a long beard wearing what seemed to be a wizard’s hat.

“Where am I?”  He asked.

“You are in the world of unlimited imagination.  In this world, whatever you imagine comes true, so I warn you to be careful of your thoughts.”

“So what does that mean exactly?”

“It means that whatever you desire, will immediately manifest.  Whatever you fear, will appear.  Anything and everything is possible here.  Go ahead, give it a try.”

The man thought to himself about something that he would like.

“I would like a rocky road ice cream cone in my hand.”  He declared.

Immediately, the requested ice cream cone appeared in his right hand.

“See how it works now.  So be careful.”

And just like that the wizard disappeared.

The man began to look around.  It appeared he was in some sort of cave.  There was rock all around him that seemed moist from the underground springs.  He saw the cave was lighted, but he didn’t know where the light was coming from.

There were steps leading downwards, so he decided to follow them to see where they led.

After much time walking and thinking about this crazy and yet amazing place, the steps stopped at a clear pool of water.   The water was so clear it was difficult for the man to see the water, yet he could sense it was there.  He walked to the edge of the pool and dipped his toe into the water which sent a ripple across the pool, defining the boundary between air and water.

He thought about a similar time in his life when he went with his family swimming in a cave, with a similar pool.

The man was confused, but nonetheless proceeded onward.   He decided to dive into the water to explore it a bit.

The water was cold and refreshing.

He had removed his clothing and felt like he was almost one with the water and the cave.  He dove as deep as he could and saw much life beneath.

When he came back up for air, he saw what appeared to be a mermaid sitting on a rock.

“Hello,” she said. “Do not be afraid.”

“How can I be afraid?  You are beautiful, and I am in a dream.”

“Oh, this is no dream.  This is all real.”

“Why am I here?”

“You are here for us to show you the unlimited potential that you have.  This is a special day for you, celebrating the anniversary of your birth into this lifetime.  However, your work here is far from finished.”

“What is the work that I need to finish?”

“You will need to figure that out on your own.  Just remember that you can return to this world whenever you want.  Use it as your safe place to explore the powers of your mind.”  She said softly.

As the man turned away, she too, disappeared.

He swam to the shore and put on his clothes.  He was not cold, nor wet when he exited the special pool.  Somehow, he felt as though something inside of him had changed.

He saw another set of steps leading upwards this time.  They were almost lit asking him to follow them.  He proceeded for what seemed like an hour, up the steps, one at a time.  He noticed that he had what appeared to be unlimited energy and stamina.  He didn’t breath heavy and his legs were light as a feather.

When he reached the top of the stairs there was an old, heavy door.  He opened the door inward and stepped over the threshold.   He began to feel afraid since the area was dark.

Just then, he could hear awful sounds and started to become more frightened.  He turned behind him to go back to where he came from, but the door was gone.

The noises were getting closer and closer to him.  He could feel creatures rubbing up against him.

Just then, the lights came on and the wizard appeared.  He waved his arm and froze the scary looking creatures.

“Hello, my friend.  How are you doing?”

“Not so good.  I’m afraid and these creatures were beginning to surround me.  What happened to the beautiful place that I was in?”

“You changed your mind.”

“What does that mean?”

“You became afraid and manifested your fearful thoughts into your reality.  Remember when I told you that everything you think about will immediately manifest?”

“Yes, I guess so.”

“Good.  Well, have fun then.”

Just then the wizard disappeared and the creatures came back to life.  The cave became dark and the man was back where he was a moment ago.  The fear immediately returned.

Then the man thought about what the wizard told him.  He closed his eyes and tried not to think about the scary noises and feelings.

“Whenever I try not to think about something, I think about it.  It’s only making things worse.”  He thought to himself.

Then he decided to think about something that he did want.  “Yes, that’s it,” he said out loud.

Just then he spoke ever so softly yet firmly, “Light up this cave.”

The cave was immediately lit to reveal the scary creatures fast approaching.  “Now be gone with these creatures.”

Nothing happened, and the fear was beginning to set back in.

“I am in a happy place – on the beach with the sun shining gently on my face and the sand in my toes.”

Immediately, the scene changed and the man was exactly where he wanted to be.  He sat on the beach and wondered what was going on, as he stared out into the distant ocean.  After much time thinking he fell asleep.

When he opened his eyes he was back at his birthday.  Everyone was around him with smiles, prompting him to blow out the candles.  He quickly obliged and as the smoke cleared, he looked in the back of the room to see the wizard with his long, grey beard and tall blue hat smiling at him.

The wizard spoke and said, “you can always come to this world whenever you want, you just need to ask for what it is you want!”

When we focus our thoughts and energies on the events, things, and people that we want in our lives – that is what will manifest.  The manifestation of those things may not be on our desired timeframe, but will appear when needed most!
