The Phone Call

Posted - Apr• 19•16

The alarm sounded and the man rolled over to slap the alarm clock to give himself another ten minutes.

“I really don’t know why I set the alarm.  It’s not like I have a reason to get up.”  He thought to himself.

The man had been out of work for quite sometime now and he continually awoke at a regular time to keep him fresh and energetic.  However, the rejections in the tough job market were beginning to take their toll on him.  He was getting to a point of wondering whether or not he would ever get hired.  At first he was looking for an improvement in his prior job, but now he was about ready to take anything – so long as it was a steady paycheck.

After the alarm sounded again, he groaned and rolled out of bed.  He quickly doused himself in the semi-cold water dripping from the shower.  That technique always woke him up and got him going for the day.  Today, it had the same effect, but to a lesser degree.

He readied himself and decided to sit quietly as he used to do when he was gainfully employed.  He sat with his feet planted solidly on the ground, his eyes closed, and his hands resting on his legs with the palms facing up.  As he drifted off into the land of “nowhere,”  he asked the question, “how can I give myself more energy?”

After a period of much silence and few thoughts, his guides replied to him, “be open and remain open.”

“What does that mean?”

“Think about how much energy you will instantly have when your phone rings and you get offered a job.  You will feel a rush of energy that will instantly overcome the state that you are currently in.  You will be open to receiving that energy.”

“Are you saying that I will be getting a job soon?”

“That is not what we are trying to tell you, but the answer is yes, you will soon have a job offered to you.  However, more importantly, we are telling you how to maintain the energy level for which you seek.”

“Okay, I am listening.”

“When you open your heart and yourself up to the energy of the universe, you will stay energized.  When you close down, that energy cannot enter your body and you will feel weak and tired.  If you pay attention, you will start to observe when you are closing down.”

“So, what should I do when I start closing down and I feel the energy dwindle.”

“Open back up!”

“Well, how do I do that?”

“You, simply say to yourself, ‘I am going to remain open,’  over and over again until you feel yourself opening back up and accepting the energy.”

“That sounds pretty simple. ”

“It really is simple.  We make things much harder than they need to be more times than not. ”

That day, the man tried his best to observe when he could feel himself closing down to the energy that kept him happy and vital.  Whenever he started worrying about getting a job, he could feel himself closing off to that energy.  “I will get a great job.   I will get a great job.  I am staying open.  I am staying open.”  He would continually repeat to himself until he could feel his energy returning.

That evening his cell phone rang.  It was a number he didn’t recognize, but he decided to answer anyway.

“Hello, this is Miss Jensen from Mega corp.  We wanted to present you with a job offer.  Is now a good time?”

Immediately, he was flooded with energy.  He observed how his body was overtaken with happiness and joy.  The energy flowed so much he felt like he could dunk a basketball.

“Yes, now is a great time.”

When we feel ourselves closing down, we block the energy we need to stay happy and vital.  Recognize those periods and force yourself to stay open so that you might live in a constant state of happiness and vitality!
