The tree sways in the wind as it stands unnoticed in the middle of the city. The cars and the pedestrians hustle by, with barely a notice of the tree’s beauty. The tree understands, though, for it does not exist to be noticed, but it exists to contribute to the beauty of the world. As a whole, it knows that the world is more beautiful with the tree in it, than it would be without it. Even if no one knows this little fact, the tree knows, and that is all that matters.

When we live in a crowded world, we are sometimes “noticed” by only a few. In an attempt to be noticed, or to achieve so-called “fame” some perform horrific acts, while others attempt to achieve that fame with their talents and appearance.
The goal of life is not to be “famous,” although that may be a goal of some. The goal in life should be one of making the world a little better, because you walked on this Earth. Everyday, new children are born into the world, while others find it is their time to leave. Much like the tree, these things happen while the strangers to these people take little notice.
We all know that these things are going on, yet we understand that it is the “cycle of life” and we cannot be present for every birth, or every return “back home.” Much like we understand there are many trees on this Earth, but we cannot enjoy the beauty of each one.
When we take notice of a person in need, or a person who is happy, we are like the pedestrian rushing to work who stops to notice the beauty of the tree. The tree can feel the appreciation for their existence, and the positive energy of the observer is transferred to the tree. Taking notice of people in this world, whom you may never see again, is also a way to transfer positive energy to those around you.
When you transfer and emit positive energy as you traverse on your journey of life, you “light up” the world around you. You truly are making the world and everyone you touch, more beautiful and happy. People need not be noticed in order to be responsible for making the world a better place. No, we only need to begin by being happy ourselves. The rest takes care of itself.

Take the time to enjoy this beautiful day. Notice, a “tree” or two that you may have never “seen” in the past. For “trees”, can be literally trees, or possibly people who you encounter on your path.
