Thoughtless Experiences

Posted - Jun• 20•16

When we think about things, we begin to make an imaginary model of the world.  When we experience things without thinking, we can be free!

Have you ever noticed how your thinking can get in the way of your life?   Sometimes, your thoughts can cause angst.  Your thoughts are the source of negative emotions – such as anger, fear, bitterness, and worry.  When we think about things, we build a model for what we think is the reality based on those thoughts.

When we experience life without processing and analyzing it, we can enjoy it.  We can observe and see the beauty of the world, without ruining it with analysis and thought.  Imagine a beautiful flower.  You get to choose the type of flower, the color, the scent and everything about it.  This is your flower.  Enjoy its beauty.

Now, start to thoroughly observe the flower.  Do you see a petal that might be starting to wilt?  Are you wondering if you should peel that petal away from the flower?   Does the flower bring up memories, either good or bad in your mind?  The flower, now starts to be analyzed and evaluated, which leads to all sorts of thoughts in your head.  You no longer are simply enjoying the beauty and smell of the flower, since your mind has entered your experience.

When our minds enter our life’s experience, we give up that experience for one of analysis.  After our analysis, we build a model for that experience and tend to classify it as, good or bad.  We relinquish the capability to enjoy the experience for what it is by letting thought adjust and modify that experience.

When we think about things, we diminish them.  Let yourself simply  “be” without thought.  When you start to hear that voice in your head analyzing and evaluating an experience, attempt to quiet it.  Focus all of your senses on the experience so that you can quiet your mind.  A quiet mind lives a stress free life!

It is the mind that wants to classify and categorize our life’s experiences.  It is the mind that clutters our life with thoughts and imaginary models of the world.  Let go of that need, and let yourself simply “be.”  Be the experience without thinking about it!
