Unintentional Addictions

Posted - Jun• 20•14

Addictions are the body’s way of “overwhelming” your mind.  When your body craves something so badly that the mind “gives in,”  possibly knowing that it is destroying your life, that is a major addiction.

When we live with the thought that our live is to be enjoyable and happy, we assume that we are speaking of a life free of addictions.  An addiction may provide short-term happiness, but it does not provide a loving life, filled with happiness and joy.  Typically, after the intake of whatever item it is, when the “happiness” wears off, we are left in a much worse state than prior to the ingestion.

Life is about keeping clarity, and soundness of the mind while making intentional decisions on moving toward our life-long beacons.  When we “give in” to the draw of an addiction, all “soundness” and “clarity” is lost and we enter a tunnel of darkness.  A darkness that may be difficult to “pull away” from.

However, if you find yourself wondering whether or not you may need to rid yourself of some addictions, you must know that the “mind” is always stronger than the “body.”  It is every bit possible to move from the darkness to the light, where flowers, trees, and plants enjoy the daily sunshine.  You must know that you have the strength to overcome anything, so long as you make the commitment to being “done” with whatever it is you need to leave behind you.

When you have a moment of “clarity” and “soundness”  you can use that time as an opportunity to make an assessment of where you are in your life, and whether or not the path that you are on seems like one that will take you where you want to be.  Deep down, we all know that an addiction, however harmless it may be to others, may be destroying our body – which eventually may affect our loved ones.

Deep down we know when there is something that we need to leave “behind” so that we can move forward in our lives – untethered.  Take the time to recognize and rid yourself of those things, while leaning on the strength that you have within yourself.  That strength can accomplish anything!
