You Are Responsible

Posted - Oct• 27•15

Stop blaming others for your life!  How many times in the past week has something not gone your way, and you looked to others for the reason?  Today is the day to take responsibility for your life!

When we take responsibility for our life and the things that happen in it, we understand the role that we play.  That role begins with an understanding that  our emotions are in our control.   I cannot get angry without giving myself permission to be angry.  Sure, the other driver “cut me off” in traffic, but I am the one who decides how I will react.

When we react without thinking, we are running on “auto-pilot.”  We are simply letting our instinctual behaviors take control.   Yes, that may work for animals in the wild, but not for evolved beings!  It’s time to use your instincts for the quick reactions necessary to avoid the collision on the road, but to use your mind for how you will react afterwards.

How many times do you find yourself in an argument with your mate or close friend when you let yourself escalate emotionally?  Those types of events are indications that you may be reacting instinctually, rather than making conscious decisions on your behaviors.  If that is the case, we recommend that you take a deep breath, and slow down.  There is no need to be hasty in your reactions, for haste could lead to unwanted behaviors – from yourself.

It’s time to take responsibility for your life.  That means that there is no one to “blame” for anything that happens.  Your mate leaves a shoe on the floor.  You trip over it, and proceed to yell at him or her until you are blue in the face.  That is not something that needs to happen.  When you are in a state of taking responsibility, you might realize that you are responsible, for everything – including the fall and how you reacted afterwards!

Today is a good day to begin to change “blame” into responsibility.  Look at the role that you are playing in this lifetime, and decide if it is one that is “acted upon” or one that is doing the “acting.”  It’s time to be the actor, director and producer of your life!
